Onyx Heights' very own Pet Shop has reopened, following its temporary closure due to the heatwave and blackout.
The animals have all, with then possible exception of the rats and mice, survived the blackout. Initially they were moved to the Pit Stop due to the failure of the air conditioning in the Pet Shop itself. Then, when the blackout struck, the cats, dogs, rabbits, reptiles and birds were all shipped to the mainland. The rats, mice, guinea pigs and hamsters were stored in the Fire Department.
Unfortunately, the rats and mice have been stolen. Their fate is, alas, unknown.
With the restoration of the air conditioning in the Pet Shop, it reopened last Thursday.
The emergency evacuation to the mainland followed immediately on from an event, organized by the owner of the Pet Shop, Alex Douglas, in the park by the Red Light District. The event, Of Party & Pets, was intended to showcase the pets available for adoption. Residents of Onyx Heights were encouraged to bring their pets as well.

Food and drink were available, with a fifty percent discount for those bringing their pets. The food included cupcakes made for dogs and cupcakes made for people.
Attendees danced to music provided by DJ Noodle.
